The Story of My Travels

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many different countries across the world. To commemorate these trips, I recently made a display on my bedroom wall of most of the countries I’ve been to. I thought this would be a good chance to look back at each of these places.

 California

I went to California with my family when I was 10 as part of a big USA trip. This was one of my favourite places in America, especially San Diego which had a nice laidback vibe. This photo is of course from San Diego Zoo.

Arizona

In the same trip we were lucky enough to get to Arizona/Nevada to see Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. It was incredible to see one of the natural wonders of the world.

Texas

We went to Texas also as a family in a separate trip in 2014. While not my favourite place in the US, we did some pretty fun things, like this picture which is from zip-lining.

Florida

Being my dad’s favourite place in the world, my parents took me and my brother to Florida a lot when we were kids. Disney World holds a very special place in my heart as I spent my childhood there. This photo, though, is from the last time I went in (I believe) 2013, and perfectly embodies Florida with hundreds of Mickeys.

Mexico

Mexico was also somewhere we were fortunate enough to go to multiple times on family holidays. It’s a beautiful country with amazing wildlife and the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen. Here the family are on rubber rings going down a lazy river.

Dominican Republic

My parents got married in the Dominican Republic in 1999 when I was 11 months old. So, of course I don’t remember it, but I couldn’t not include this photo on the map!

Barbados

Another beautiful beach destination, we went here as a family in 2009.

Lanzarote

This was also a family holiday from 2006. Lanzarote will always remind me of the black volcanic rock that people used to make sculptures by balancing them on top of each other.

Spain

I went to Santa Susanna in August 2018 on a girls holiday, where we drank a lot of cocktails and spent time in the sun. This is me and my gorgeous friend Jess on a boat trip!

France

I’ve been to France a couple of times, but the most memorable has to be Paris with my family for my 16th birthday. The Eiffel Tower really was a bucket list item for me!

Netherlands

I went to the Netherlands with my Scout troop in 2011. We did lots of touristy things like seeing the windmills, but one day I’d still love to go and see Amsterdam!

Germany

I’ve been to Berlin twice; once with the History Society at uni and once with my mum. It’s such an incredible city with a rich history behind it, and you can really feel that.

Italy

I’ve been to Florence, Pisa, and of course Rome. Italy may just be my favourite country I’ve been to- the delicious food, abundance of history, and beautiful weather all make for an incredible trip!

Poland

My most recent trip was to Krakow with the History Society in April. Krakow really surprised me, it was so beautiful and there was so much to do, and the surprisingly good weather was the cherry on top!

Hungary

Although we all know my trip to Hungary didn’t end well (again- will write a full post about this soon), Budapest was actually a really charming city. This photo is at the Fisherman's Bastion, with the Parliament building in the background. I would love to go back there one day to do the New York Café (AKA the most beautiful café in the world) and a couple of other things I missed due to my injury.

Bulgaria

I went to Bulgaria in school on a ski trip. The best part about this was seeing part of the world that I would never normally have gone to, and being up in the mountains meant we had lots of stunning views.

I’ve also been to Belgium with a school trip but couldn’t find the pics from that ☹ Maybe when I find them I’ll print another off to add to the map!

Can’t wait to keeping adding to the map as I tick more countries off my bucket list!
