Best places to drink on my travels

Shortly following the post about the best places I’ve eaten during my travels, I thought it would be fitting to write about the best places to drink. This list ranges from chill bars, to sensational cocktails, to boozy nightclubs!

Szimpla Kert, Budapest

One of the coolest bars I’ve ever been to, Szimpla Kert is one of the famous ruin bars that Budapest is so well-known for. I remember being surprised at how huge it was; there are many different levels and rooms you can easily get lost in. The trendy décor is easily the best part, so it’s a fantastic Instagram opportunity!



Tiki Bar, Costa Brava

This was a cute little bar we found on our girls holiday to Spain, that did huge gorgeous cocktails! Pina colada was obviously a fav, as was a sex on the beach.



Matrix Club, Berlin
Three words. 2. For. 1. Best way to celebrate tour in first year of uni.



Brachvogel Restaurant, Berlin

Sticking with Berlin but a very different type of atmosphere, this was the restaurant my mum and I went to on our first night of our Berlin trip last year. It was the perfect place to enjoy a German beer with our dinner on a balmy June evening.

Now this was the way to start the holiday off right! I wasn't quitefeeling like I was on holiday yet, until we got on our coach to go to the hostel, and they handed out free beers! Horrible, lukewarm beer, but nevertheless the best way to kick off tour.



East Street, Oxford Circus

I know, I’m still cheating by including places from my own country, but this was too good to miss out! We managed to finesse student discount when we weren’t supposed to, and got 2 for 1 cocktails!

When I originally arrived in Melbourne, I had a rough plan to travel up the east coast, but I didn't really know what I was going to do. I met some amazing people on the tour and a lot of them were staying in Melbourne to get jobs, so I decided to do the same. I'd heard there were lots of jobs here so it wouldn't be too difficult. I moved into an apartment with my 3 friends, and we were planning on staying for around 3 months to work. But don't let instagram fool you; it's not been sunsets and beach days all the time. My experience with Hostels

               A fun hostel in Budapest People are sometimes concerned to hear that I will probably be spending most of my time on my big trip staying in hostels.  They have a bad rep; often they are avoided for fear of being dirty, run-down, and full of loud and inconsiderate backpackers. They could never be as luxurious as hotels. While all of these stereotypes can be true, I've found that they are generally better than people expect them to be, (often even better than hotels) and they are a fantastic option for the budget-friendly traveller. Another common misconception about hostels is that there is absolutely no privacy with hostels. This may be true in the case of some huge 10-bed mixed dorms, however you can in fact book private single rooms in hostels that are very similar to hotel rooms at a fraction of the price. Goodbye Byron Bay

My time in Byron has finally come to an end. I've learnt so much and grown so much during my three and a half months in Byron, so it feels very bitter-sweet to be leaving. I'm really proud to say that I lived in my van for two months. This is something I wasn't expecting but I'm so glad I did it. I loved it but it certainly was a challenge at times! The past month, as I've known I'll be leaving soon, has been the best and most enjoyable time in Byron. It sometimes works that way as the pressure is off and you are more mindful about the place you're in, making the most of all the opportunities. I moved into a hostel, the Arts Factory, which was so fun and probably my favourite hostel I've ever stayed in.  It's been SO much fun as well as nourishing; I've learnt a lot from amazing people and grown so much.
