New Tattoo

I've got a new tattoo! I'm so buzzing about it so wanted to share with you the story behind it and what it means to me.

{Aside: It's so funny cos when people ask me about the reasons behind my tattoos I don't like to say, I guess I find it somewhat invasive? Especially people who don't have tattoos themselves as it feels like they won't get it. I guess I'd rather offer up the information freely.}

It's a sunset or sunrise design which I had been sitting on for a while. I wanted something at some point in Australia as a commemoration to my trip.
Australia has some of the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises I've ever seen.
From watching the sunrise at the Cape Byron Lighthouse, to singing the circle of life to the sunset over the Grampians, these are some of my most treasured moments of my trip so far.
Sunrise over Byron Bay was a really special moment for me

Anyone who's ever watched a sunset or a sunrise with me knows I'm a soppy sod and I often get quite emotional whilst watching them. I've always felt an emotional connection to the sky, and something about it being lit up in pinks and oranges just sets my soul on fire.

In a more metaphorical sense, for me it symbolises that things always come to an end, but there is beauty and opportunity in endings. It also says that there will always be new beginnings, as the sun will always rise again.
Literally who could ever get sick of sunsets

Just to speak on the experience of actually getting the tattoo this morning, it went pretty well! I was pretty nervous about getting it on my ribs as I knew this was a notoriously painful place to get tattooed. But really it wasn't too bad. The top parts up by the sunrays were slightly worse as they were nearer to my ribs, but overall it took about 30 mins so not long really!
Due to covid restrictions still being in place we had to wear masks during the process and social distancing maintained with other clients in the shop etc.
I'd like to thank Ink Embassy and Hazel for their fantastic work and making me feel so comfortable- I couldn't be happier!
